Galp CEO Steps Down
Galp CEO Carlos Gomes da Silva has stepped down and will be succeeded by former Shell upstream director Andy Brown February 19, the Portuguese oil and gas company said on January 12.
Gomes da Silva is leaving two years before the end of his mandate. His departure was agreed by board chair Paula Amorim and will be voted on by shareholders at Galp s next general meeting, the company said on January 12.
The reason for his departure was not stated, although it comes as Galp looks to recover from net losses in the first, second and third quarters of last year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic s impact on markets. Gomes da Silva is also resigning as vice-chairman of the board.
